Refund Policy

York Curling Club

As a non-profit facility, the York Curling Club (YCC) relies on membership fees as its primary source of revenue to fund its operations year over year. Annual operating budgets are established based on projected registrations. Many of the club activities that go into making YCC a successful entity are the result of volunteers who oversee the business operations of the club.

Policy Statement

Upon receipt and processing of an applicant's registration and placement on the membership registration list, it is the position of the York Curling Club that there are no refunds of membership fees, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Exceptional Circumstances

The following exceptional circumstances will result in adjustments to the refund Policy.

  1. If circumstances result in a delay in opening or early cancellation of the curling season the following refund policy will apply:
    1. If the season does not start a full refund will be provided, however, depending on the club financial circumstances, a sustainability fee may be applied for members to retain their returning member status when curling resumes.
    2. If the curling season starts and circumstances result in a closure for the season, the following refund formula will apply:
      1. If closure occurs during the first 4 weeks of curling, the refund will be the dues paid, less the capital fee (currently $60) less the plant start up fee (currently $75).
      2. If closure occurs during week 5 to the end of week 8 of curling, the refund will be the dues paid, less the capital fee (currently $60) less the plant start up fee (currently $75), less one fifth of the balance of your dues.
      3. If closure occurs during week 9 to the end of week 12 of curling, the refund will be the dues paid, less the capital fee (currently $60) less the plant start up fee (currently $75), less two fifth of the balance of your dues.
      4. If closure occurs during week 13 to the end of week 16 of curling, the refund will be the dues paid, less the capital fee (currently $60) less the plant start up fee (currently $75), less three fifth of the balance of your dues.
      5. If closure occurs during week 17 to the end of week 20 of curling, the refund will be the dues paid, less the capital fee (currently $60) less the plant start up fee (currently $75), less four fifth of the balance of your dues.
      6. If closure occurs during week 21 to the end of the season, there will be no dues refunded.
  2. Any registered member who decides to withdraw their registration up to three weeks prior to the published date for start of league play, may receive a refund of dues paid less the plant start up fee (currently $75).
  3. Any member that sustains an injury or illness will receive a refund based on the following formula. Membership dues paid, less the Capital Fee ( currently $60) less the plant start up fee (currently $75) and a percentage of the balance outlined in #1(b), based on when the written request for refund is received by "This email address is being protected from spambots.
