To All Members of York Curling Club:

On behalf of the Board and management of YCC I hope everyone is safe and healthy. It was only a month ago we were looking towards the Night Of Champions and our ever popular Closing Roaring 20's Bonspiel.  So much has happened in this past month. I thought I would assure you that the financial health of YCC is sound. We made the decision to pay all our staff to the end of the season as if we were still open. We are looking into government programs that are available to help us defray our expenses. We are planning for a great start to the season in September when we can all celebrate the joy of curling with our friends and family.

I did want to reach to all our members at this time to see if there is anything we can do together to provide assistance.  This past week we saw long lineups at grocery stores. For some, every trip to a public space can be fraught with anxiety.  We know that this virus can be fatal to people with a compromised immune system, people with respiratory problems and older adults.  We have seen that even healthy people have died from this virus which means all of us are at risk. There is a strong community spirit at York Curling Club.  So if you know anyone or you yourself need help, please reach out so we can help provide any support you need.  Even if it just going to the store to pick up some essentials on your behalf, there are members who are ready to help.

I know that I made the mistake of thinking this will be over quickly. I think that now it is apparent that this will last for a few more months. While some of us have family nearby to help, many do not or do not want to impose on them.  Many of us have a lot more time on our hands and looking for an opportunity to help a friend. So if you need help or know somebody who does, please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will arrange to match you with the volunteer who is able to help. Together, we will all come through this safe and sound. If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign-up as a Volunteer online under "My Volunteer Availability" for the "Members Helping Members During COVID-19" or you can e-mail me as well.

Thank you and stay safe.

Attention all members!

This year we are trying something new for Green Ice!  (The ice is still white, don't worry!)

For those of you who aren't sure just what Green Ice is...It's newly installed ice, and it's a "break-in" period for the rocks, ice and rusty curlers!  It's a chance for you to come out and stretch those summer muscles and get ready for a new curling season!

This year as Thanksgiving falls quite late, we are going to have 2 full weeks of green ice.  The first week is entirely open for all members:

                                              Monday, September 30     6:30pm-10:00pm

                                              Tuesday, October 1           1:00pm-5:00pm AND 6:30pm-10:00pm

                                             Wednesday, October 2      6:30pm-10:00pm

                                             Thursday, October 3          1:00pm-5:00pm AND 6:30pm-10:00pm

Starting on Friday, October 4, Green ice will change to "League specific" green ice.  This means that you can come throw rocks, meet your team, and brush up on your skills during the timeslots of your registered leagues.  League Specific green ice will continue through to Thursday, October 10, so that every league has a chance to get on the ice.

Friday, October 11 - Monday, October 14 the club will be closed for Thanksgiving, and League Games will commence on Tuesday, October 15.
